Time and Attendance - Bradford Factor

Our Human Resources module caters for Bradford Factor analysis, both on screen and via external reports.

This allows you to monitor staff absence bookings and specifically the patterns in which they occur, proactively pointing you towards those that might be beginning a deteriorating attendance trend and allowing you to intervene and solve the problem early in the cycle. Early alerting and rapid response to situations that lose time & productivity allows you to avoid unnecessary costs. The ‘factor’ is a simple numerical score derived from the number of days off and the number of individual spells (or bookings), and by weighting the number of spells, produce a value which highlights worsening attendance.

The formula is expressed as (spells) ² x total days absent = Bradford Factor.

Bradford analysis is complimented by our user-friendly ‘Outlook’ style calendars which allow you to review attendance data visually and in a format familiar to all of us:

We also offer the facility to customise which absence codes are included in the score, so you can customise the reporting to your specific business rules.
A simple example of this Bradford scoring is to think of 2 employees each with 10 days absence;

One has a single absence of 10 days duration, score is 1² x 10 = 10, a relatively low score, or:

The other has 10 absences of 1 day each, score 10² x 10 = 1000, a high score alerting you to a potentially problematic attendance history.
